Fitting a battery you have already bought
We'll fit a battery you've bought if the type, size, terminals and rating match the car. If it's a flooded battery and the car wants AGM, we won't force it in. We can also supply the right one.
When a battery you bought can be fitted
The part has to match the car: flooded, EFB or AGM, Ah, cold cranking current, case size and terminal positions. If those line up, the fitter can install it at the vehicle and torque the hold-down back down. The old battery still has to be dealt with. Say on the form if you want it taken away.
If they do not line up, the battery stays in the box. A flooded unit for an AGM car is not fitted. An EFB for an AGM car is not fitted. An AGM must not be downgraded. An EFB car may take an AGM as an upgrade, agreed on the callback, not assumed from the receipt.
What to send before the visit
Photograph the label of the battery you bought and the label of the old one if it is still readable. Type your mobile number. We call you back and compare them. That call is the point where a wrong purchase is caught, before a journey.
Polarity matters. Posts the wrong way round will not be forced onto the leads. Vent and sealed-case rules matter too. An AGM is sealed. Do not ask for holes to be drilled so it resembles a flooded battery.
Supply and fit is still available
If the battery you bought is wrong, the usual path is a supply-and-fit of the correct one. The quote changes because the part changes. There is no printed price either way. The callback gives the figure.
The fitter comes to the car in London, Birmingham or Manchester. Registration is still done when the model needs it, whether you bought the battery or we did. A correct box does not register itself.
Questions before you send a quote
Will you fit a battery from a retail park?
Yes, if the spec matches the car. The callback checks that before the visit.
What if I bought AGM for an EFB car?
That can be an upgrade. It is confirmed on the call, including registration of the type if the car stores it.
Do you still come to the car?
Yes. Customer-supplied fitting is still a mobile visit in the three cities.
A worked example
A 2015 Volkswagen Polo needs an EFB. The customer has bought an EFB with the same Ah, cold cranking current and terminal layout. The fitter fits it on the drive and registers it because that Polo needs registration. If the box had been a flooded battery, it would have been refused and a supply-and-fit quoted instead.
Safety
Do not connect a battery with reversed terminals to see if the leads will stretch. That is how posts, leads and control units get damaged.
